“The Child” which is based on an original script by Jon Povill. Povill initially wrote the piece for Gene Roddenberry’s planned series, Star Trek: Phase II, which he shelved when Paramount commissioned the first Star Trek movie in 1979. The story later became the inspiration for TNG’s second season episode of the same name. The new Phase II episode revived the original script and was directed by Povill.

“He Walked Among Us” to be filmed

We posted earlier about this lost script, He Walked Among Us, written by Norman Spinrad.  Well, now it is actually going to filmed by Star Trek Phase II, also called Star Trek New Voyages.  I’m not sure if it will be a webisode or a series of webisodes, or an actual full-length film, but either way, it’s pretty amazing.

Yes, it’s basically going to be a “fan film”, per se, however, this group of “fans” have a pretty high standard for quality Star Trek webisodes. They have not only been honored with an award for Best Sci-Fi Webseries by TV Guide Online, but they’ve also received both Hugo and Nebula awards!  Not only that, but they’ve also had TOG cast and crew (George Takei & Majel Roddenberry, for example) on board for their shows.  This is a truly legit group of people who love Star Trek and want it done right.

So, now that they have the script, are would you be willing to watch it when it comes out?
