Obama Is A Trekkie

President Obama got to meet his childhood crush, Nichelle Nichols, and even showed his Trekkie side by giving the Vulcan greeting with Nichelle, who played Lt. Uhura in the Original Series.

President Barack Obama and TOS star Nichelle Nichols pose with the Vulcan hand greeting.

President Obama, who himself boldly went where no man has gone before as the first African-American elected to the White House, is an admitted comic fan and “Star Trek” geek.

“Months ago, Pres Obama was quoted as saying that he’d had a crush on me when he was younger,” Nichols tweeted at the time of her White House visit in late February. “I asked about that & he proudly confirmed it! … President Obama also confirmed for me that he was definitely a Trekker! How wonderful is that?!”

Star Trek 2 Pictures – no spoilers update

Okay, so pictures are already up showing Benedict Cumberbatch’s character (supposedly villainous) having a not-so-friendly interaction with Zachary Qunto’s Spock.  Cumberbatch’s character name and official origin have yet to be released.

UPDATE:  Due to a statement made by actress Zoe Saldana (who plays Uhura) that director J.J.  Abrams was not pleased with the fact the photos were leaked and disbursed online, we are going to remove the photos from our site out of courtesy for the director, cast, and crew.  Although it’s nice to see such things, it’s probably best that we do not post them until they are official photos from the production company.
